Motability is a registered charity, which helps disabled people and their families in the UK to become more mobile. It was set up on the initiative of the Government in 1977, to provide vehicles and powered wheelchairs to disabled people. Special terms have been arranged with Kia as well as other motor manufacturers, wheelchair and vehicleadaptation suppliers, banks and insurers so that today a variety of schemes can be offered to enable disabled people to become more mobile. Motability offers two different schemes to help disabled people obtain a vehicle. These are:The Motability Contract Hire Scheme is available over a three year period on selected models. You have to give up part, or all, of your allowance, and pay Advance Payment, where applicable. All maintenance and servicing, comprehensive insurance and full breakdown assistance for the vehicle,provided by RAC are included in the agreement. Contract Hire The vast majority of Motability customers choose to obtain and pay for a brand new car through theMotability Contract Hire Scheme. Customers pay part, or all, of their disability allowance, plus an Advance Payment where applicable. The Contract Hire agreement includes all maintenance and servicing, comprehensive insurance and full breakdown cover for the vehicle, provided by the RAC.
