Westdrive Kia Braintree
One of the most affordable new cars on sale in the UK — and one of the most generously equipped. The new Kia Picanto arrives with a bold mid-life redesign, a striking LED lightbar on GT-Line grades, an 8-inch touchscreen as standard and the reassurance of Kia’s class-leading 7-year, 100,000-mile warranty. The ideal first car, city car and second car — at a price that makes it an easy decision.
Powertrain
The new Picanto is available with two petrol engines. The entry-level 1.0-litre three-cylinder produces 62bhp — light, economical and perfectly sized for the car. It covers the 2, GT-Line and 3 grades, delivering up to 55.4mpg WLTP with CO2 from just 115g/km.
The 1.2-litre four-cylinder produces 77bhp and is reserved exclusively for the range-topping GT-Line S — adding refinement and a little more performance for those who want it. Both engines drive the front wheels via a five-speed manual as standard, with an optional automated manual transmission (AMT) available across all grades for those who prefer a two-pedal experience.
Every Picanto includes Kia’s 7-year, 100,000-mile warranty — making it one of the most reassuring small cars on sale at any price.

i-Activsense
The Picanto punches well above its price point on safety. Every grade includes Kia’s Forward Collision Avoidance Assist and Lane Keeping Assist as standard — rarely seen on a car starting at under £16,000.
/ 100,000 Mile Warranty
Detects vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists ahead and autonomously applies the brakes if a collision is imminent — standard on every Picanto grade, including the entry-level 2. Includes junction-turning detection.
Monitors lane markings and steers to keep the Picanto centred. Lane Departure Warning alerts the driver if the car begins to drift without indicating — standard from grade 2 upwards.
A windscreen camera reads speed limit signs and displays the current limit on the navigation screen and instrument cluster, helping drivers stay within limits on unfamiliar roads.
Monitors steering behaviour to detect signs of driver fatigue or distraction, recommending a break before concentration lapses become dangerous — standard across all Picanto grades.
Available from grade 3 upwards, radar monitors both rear blind spots and illuminates a warning in the relevant mirror. Rear Cross Traffic Alert provides additional protection when reversing.
Maintains a set speed and safe following distance from the vehicle ahead, available from grade 3 upwards — reducing fatigue on A-roads and motorways even in the Picanto’s city-car class.
